Description
Healing posts – Basics of Testing force & steps in YiquanBy Yao ChengguangAs Yiquan (or Dachengquan) is based on the practice of post standing or zhan zhuang, Yao’s method is also focusing in this first video on the training of Healing posts or yang sheng zhuang, the fundamentals in Testing force and steps.Largely recognized for its health benefits, Healing posts are also the necessary basis before training Combat as they are the first “layer” in setting up a whole body and yet unified power but also the required mental/body relaxation within the post. Selection of the most important stances: standing/sitting/lying.In accordance to the principle of minimum movements or rather from non-moving to moving, Yao introduces already in this first video, testing force which will help the practitioner to extend the spatial dimension of his issuing internal power but still within healing application. The last part of this video is explaining the basis of Dachengquan steps: mocabu (mud stepping). Again deploying the spatial dimensions of internal power, two stepping methods: fixed steps and moving step. The inheritance of Baguazhang steps (Eight Hexagrams Boxing) can be also perceived in these steps for those familiar to Baguazhang, the successive leading authorities of Yiquan contribute to its evolution for more martial efficiency (timing and positioning) and health benefits (especially for body’s motor system ).Seeking Force & Combat posts in Yiquanby Yao ChengguangAs the second video of this series, Yao explains Yiquan Combats and their differences with Healing posts. With a progressive method of training higher level of internal power. Among these more advanced properties explored: contradictive forces (called also opposite forces) but also in training “Seeking Force” thus intensifying internal sensations, body alignment and amplitudes of forces involved in these exercises. The Combat posts presented are also approached according to their degree of difficulties each post necessitating the mastery of previously presented ones.As in Healing posts, Yao starts with an “Universal post” referring to the most basic Combat post. Included in this training , a more detailed explanation of “T-eight step”.As an important distinctive feature of Yao’s method in Combat Posts are the arrangement of Combat posts: in each post presented a further step of complexity is requested from the practitioner to be mastered. From T-eight step posture to One supporting leg posture, Yao has selected Eight progressive posts exposing his vision of Yiquan evolutive standards in physical and mental requests of Combat Posts, bringing the practitioner to the limits of his present level of development and methods to overpass them and in the same way opening new space of body/mental particularly useful for fighting abilities.Advanced Combat posts & Testing Force in Yiquanby Yao ChengguangConsidered as one of the most advanced form of Combat Post, “Bird Flying With Difficulty” is now exposed in this DVD no3, according to the progressive “Seeking Force” approach on separated directions up to “Liu Mian Li” six directions simultaneously. Thus positioning the highest requests in combat post as “Liu Mian Li” while internal power is even more adaptive. Two interesting sitting variant of Combat Post are proposed which are complementing the previous ones especially useful for “Desktop” training and deepening sensations for Changing Directions and Simultaneous Directions in Seeking Force. As a central training in Yiquan before starting the Issuing Force or “Fali”. Yao is introducing Testing Force exercises, involving the acquired Universal power (Post standing) into a more dynamic and enlarged space. The first required training is Fixed Step Testing Force and here ten different Test Force exercises. After a certain time they will pro-pulse progressively the skills of the practitioner up to a level of a more flexible, unified internal power within movement itself. This state of relaxation and entiress in Testing Force can related to the purpose of the original martial Tai Chi Chuan but with a much clearer background provided by the previous fundamental work of static postures and Seeking Force proper to Yiquan.Advanced Combat Testing Force in Yiquanby Yao ChengguangAny fighting method but also healing methods without steps would be incomplete or more often students are misunderstanding the distinction of non-moving and moving exercises: Yes we need first to master Non-moving . But we should Not satisfy ourselves in JUST training static exercises. In this DVD no4 Yao’s method is precisely taking by the hand the practitioner and lead him to higher demanding training of Combat Testing Force with steps, just a a perfect continuation of the previous Fixed step exercises presented in DVD no3. Making even more sense for the trainee from apprehending Universal Force, Seeking Force in Fixed Step accessing to more intense physical/mental involvement brought by further leg/step work but also bringing one level closer to the reality of combat. As the previous exercises in Fixed step, the successive Combat Testing Force with step are presented according to an increasing level of difficulty while mastering the multi-directional forces involved in each exercises.Three advanced Combat Testing Force Fixed steps are also explained, including Diving Turtle Emerging From Water or Mixed Fixed step which should require a special attention as a basis for effective combat strategy in Yiquan Duanshou (Free fighting). This DVD no4 is a solid knowledge on Testing Force with step as the important level of MUST be reached for any serious Yiquan practitioner in perfect continuity with previously presented Yiquan training.Combat Steps & Issuing Force in Yiquanby Yao ChengguangTwo very important aspects of Yiquan are presented here in Yao’s DVD no5:I) Combat steps: often confused with the mocabu step, Yao reveals here the most useful steps used in real combat, which will give to the fighter all his freedom and lightness in front of his opponent. These 5 “canonic” Combat steps have been refined through the two generations of Yao and anyone with a slight experience in combat would approve their effectiveness.II) Issuing Force:: could we even call martial art if there is no power in Issuing Force? Here Yao explains Issuing Force as a natural process integrating all previous Yiquan capabilities in terms of internal power and make it happen after the mastery of Testing Force and Steps. With the same canonic exercises presented in Testing Force, starting with Static T-Eight step. Then with step. But also here Issuing Force reaches whole body becoming a weapon itself. Yao Cheng Guang shows some specific parts of the body which can be used as deadly weapons. This material takes the practitioner to the next level of his Yiquan training giving him effective tools to increase speed, power and strategic superiority in combat situation with the two leverages: Combat Steps and Issuing Force.Issuing Force (II) and Pushing Hands (I) in Yiquanby Yao ChengguangFrom the basis of previous five DVDs, Yao’s DVD no6 exposes two central aspects of Yiquan training which takes the practitioner to a higher level of expertise completing his issuing force ability with steps and then integrating progressively it to Yiquan Pushing Hands:I) Issuing Force (II): Issuing force here is revealing its full power by including step in your movements and this completes previous static techniques presented in DVD no5, helping you to deepen and master a freely issuing force.II) Pushing hands (I): Yao’s family’s specific pushing hands training is presented in detail and with progressive techniques. Yao Chengguang reveals secrets techniques very effective to win in pushing hands such as Side Issuing force, use of Back Hand…Making the practitioner much awarded of subtle changes which may be occurred during pushing hands exchange, this video is considered as one of the most complete material introducing to Yiquan pushing hands – especially Single Hand which is clearly the door opener for the mastery of Pushing Hands gaining a decisive superior technical advantage.Yiquan Pushing Hands (II) & Fist Methods (I)by Yao ChengguangYao’s DVD no7 exposes the last part of Yiquan Pushing Hands training: the second part of Double Pushing Hands. This includes various dimensional issuing forces in double hands bu also the excellent sensing/reaction training with two partners. But also DVD7 presents the Yiquan Fists methods. It gives us the powerful Fist techniques where since both generation of Yao family integrated in Yiquan specific fist techniques for further effectiveness during combat. For educative reason: the exercises are presented from Fixed step up to multiple (three) steps while issuing force with fist. For an external observer it can look as standard fists of western boxing or Shaolin style, but the internal sensations and requests provided by Yao make them real internal martial techniques with yet perceptible large power..We can also notice that these techniques are perfectly in line with previous preparative exercises such as shili and mocabu as their perfect performances request the full mastery of Yiquan core skills such as unified body, stretching and opposite forces.Fist Methods (II)Punching in RunningLeg issuing force methodsIssuing force by punching to pads (I)by Yao ChengguangThis DVD no8 is clearly an advanced material as it assumes that the practitioner has reached a sufficient level to bring to a much higher indepency upper and lower limbs: but with the single objective of unpredictable attack/defense.Internal skills acquired first in post standing can now be extended to explosive horizontal punches but also kicks highly effective in Combat situation.Yao Chengguang introduces therefore three important aspects in advanced Yiquan combat preparation:*) Punching in running: issuing force with whole body has now to be performed in the extreme dynamic situation of running. Here are the major fist techniques to be trained progressively with the fastest footwork.*) Leg Issuing force in Yiquan: a very rare material for “internal” kicks developed in Yiquan by Yao’s family’s from fixed exercises up to Kicks with steps*) Yiquan issuing force by punching to pads (I): First level of Impact training in Yiquan: Punching to pads constitutes tremendous exercises to improve rapidly timing, accuracy and stamina, a must for any serious practitioner having the chance to train with partner.Issuing force by punching to pads (II)Impact training: Punching sandbagby Yao ChengguangThis DVD no9 is the final part for the Fist training according of Yao’s method of Yiquan. Completing first the Pads training exposed in DVDno8, Yao is presenting then the Yiquan Sandbag training. This is another innovation from traditional internal martial arts methods which his father Yao Zhongxun implemented while designing a scientific approach in training Yiquan. But again this is introduced at an advanced level and its respects all previous levels principles.Speed, power, timing and now impact resistance are all submitted to a higher level of request and therefore there are are perfect exercises to gain greater efficiency in combat.*) Impact training: issuing force as part of a complete interaction with an opponent. It should be completed with the constraints of the inertia of an opponent’s body including the immediate effect on your fist/wrist after punching. with whole body has now to be performed in the extreme dynamic situation of running. The impact exercises are focused on major fist techniques to be trained progressively with the fastest footwork.Do not make the mistake to go for a real fight without experiencing Impact training (Sandbag punching) or you may regret it. How would you experience the penetrative power of a fist, if not during impact training?Yao’s advices will provide you the necessary background to benefit from this advanced training set.Issuing force by punching to pads (III) – Testing VoiceFree fighting preparation exercises – Yiquan staffby Yao ChengguangThis DVD no10 is the last instructional part of this DVD series which should considered for each student as the ultimate training set to complete the Yao Chengguang video course: this includes very advanced exercises which testify the broad and deep knowledge of the to two successive Yao generation Yiquan Master.
