Description

1. – INTRODUCTION.Nan Mercader on this CD reveals the secrets of flamenco percussion, in a structured and understandable and more than sixty years. An essential tool to enter the flamenco percussion, with analysis of the sticks. The CD includes the crate method, with technique exercises and patterns for bulerías, tango, and rumba tanguillos and jar method, with exercises and rhythms. With both instruments, all exercises are designed to use metronome. Bats are displayed with guitar and singing. The CD includes a final performance with Carles Benavent, Jorge Pardo, Vicky Romero and Nan Mercader.2. – ANALYSIS OF TEACHING METHOD, by musicologist and music teacher Carlos C.First you have to start by clarifying that the method has no visual or DVD, but all audio is recorded, in the script auque include all exercises are developed to long paragraphs. Having no visual modeling, the method does not complete, which makes it less interesting than any other that refers both to the score (which in many cases have booklet with scores and audiovisual). As a method for Flamenco percussion, includes tools such as a barrel, drums, bata drums, congas, bongos … what do not be a unique method for the drawer, dedicated to the instrument that we are interested in a short time, both exercise and sound recording. As for the section dedicated to flamenco box can be divided into two basic points: a first devoted to the drawer (very brief historical introduction and without interest), your basic technique (position and sounds: treble, bass, muted, heel toe, foot, mordents and strumming) and to complete the exercises on the techniques mentioned above. Each of the techniques listed in the booklet explained with text, picture and together with the number of the CD track and exercise, whereas in the exercises shown by staff, the treble, bass and accentuation, moving ever more complex execution. Then set a rating of flamenco styles per measure (as Faustino Núñez), dividing it into:A) Palos 12 times (Solea group: bulerías, soleá bulerías, joys, soleá bulerías, cane pole, mirabrás, snails, cantiñas, bamberas, romeras and alboreás; Seguiriya group: bulerías, soleá bulerías , joys and soleá bulerías; Guajira and Petenera).B) Palos Binary (group of Tangos: rumba, garrotín, Colombian, milongas, farrucas, tarantos, tientos and Marian).C) Ternary Palos (fandango de Huelva, Seville, Malaga and seguiriyas fandangos Seville).D) polyrhythmic (tanguillos and footwork).E) Free (Malaga, granaína, media granaína, Ronda and song of mine). In each of the previously mentioned clubs, divided among five groups (A to E), appear in the booklet with a brief description and the basic patterns, all with a few exercises that can be heard on the CD.So here is all about the cajón, then do the same with other percussion instruments that have accompanied flamenco throughout its history, such as congas, bongos and the jar. ‘s Treatment with each of these instruments is much shorter in length, both in the part of the script and exercises, and audio CD. 3. – ASSESSMENT OF TEACHING METHOD.As previously mentioned, no ability to see through all audiovisual exercises that develop the method and techniques used (yes in cajoning), do you have a lower educational rigor than others on the market. It is true that describes each one of them but always very briefly, in some cases devoting two sentences of introduction to flamenco. Thus, if there was that part would be more complete visual. However, being a flamenco percussion method, the drawer is not working and the instrument being studied, but there are others which have been dedicated work, leaving the drawer as one among the four posed Nan Mercader.Hearing the CD at certain times of the years, they have the desired quality, and we have to keep the intensity of your computer or stereo undesirable about decibels. As for the quality of the script, it shows that the design and structure of the book is very modernized, dated 2000, makes it a very remote in time and possibly one of the first to appear, moments where the drawer has no as popular as today. The cajonings that show in the book or script are in black and white, the majority is poor, showing in most cases the situation of placing hands on various percussion instruments at issue in the method, well as some pictures of Flemish paintings of the 90s.Finally and as a filler or complementary to the method, a number of paragraphs (discography essential flamenco, basic bibliography of flamenco, flamenco sites on the net, glossary and author’s CV).
